The Hamburg English Language Teaching Association (HELTA) brings together teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in North Germany. We are an officially registered, non-profit making organization (e.V.). Our members, both native and non-native speakers of English, come from all teaching sectors. Our goal is to provide a forum for sharing experience and developing professional expertise.
For a complimentary copy of our newsletter (sent within Germany only) or further information about joining the association, email Helta's membership secretary: Nick Jones laosteam@gmx.de
PLEASE NOTE:
Helta is only able to respond to enquiries directly relating to our events or to becoming a member of the association. Helta is not a school or an employment agency for teachers of English; we cannot be of assistance to individuals/organisations seeking English teachers, recommendations for courses or schools, or teaching positions in Hamburg.
During the academic year (September to June) we run seminars, talks, workshops and informal "idea exchange" sessions on a wide range of subjects relating to EFL. The emphasis is on practical teaching and training ideas. Our speakers and facilitators come from the local area and other parts of Germany, as well as from abroad.
Members are able to learn more about specialized fields and developments in areas such as Business English, Computer Assisted Learning (CALL), Brain Compatible Learning, Cultural Awareness and Methodology.
Publishers' presentations and book displays keep members abreast of EFL materials on the market.
HELTA offers its members the opportunity of networking with other EFL professionals, as well as informal social contact with friends and colleagues.

This is the "official" team, but further helping hands would be appreciated! Please contact us if you would like to assist. This needn't be on a regular basis or involve attending committee meetings; stuffing envelopes or helping out as needed for individual events would also be a help!
